UMH Ladies Auxiliary

The UMH Ladies Auxiliary (UMH LA) was established in 2006, by a group of dedicated horse women. The Ladies Auxiliary is a valuable asset to UMH. With their annual Charity Horse Show in Prestonsburg, KY, their donations to women’s and children’s charities, and their support for others in crisis, the Auxiliary members have been a driving force toward UMH’s goal of promoting mountain horses. UMH LA Mission Statement
Our Objective: To assist and promote the United Mountain Horse, Inc, in the promotion of the Mountain Horses, and to provide a vehicle for philanthropic educational assistance to those in the Mountain Horse industry and including but not limited to:
1. Educational assistance to young people who (a) have been active in the care an exhibiting of the Mountain Horses regardless of chosen profession, and/or (b) desire to enter a career related to the horse industry generally or the Mountain Horse specifically.
2. Advertising support for the benefit of the Mountain Horse Industry.
3. Financial assistance to programs which incorporate protection of women/children and
underprivileged.
4. Crisis assistance for trainers, owners, and their families in case of illness or tragedy.

The LA sends a BIG Thank You to Nancy Copland, past president, and to each member who worked so hard to make 2009 a great success. We congratulate and we are excited that Nancy is going on to be on the Board of Directors of UMH.

Please join us on June 11th and 12th in Prestonsburg, KY for the 5th anniversary 2010 UMH Ladies Auxiliary Charity Horse Show!

Remember, membership dues are $20 if paid before March 31st and $30 if paid after March 31st. Also, get your sponsorships for the LA show in by April 30th. Members are to obtain $200 sponsorships from merchants or farms to support the LA show and all the other programs sponsored by the LA throughout the year.

Be sure to let Julia Bowen know when you can volunteer to help with the LA show and other UMH events. Your hours accumulate toward the UMH LA Volunteer of the Year Award.
